Brief description
Industry 4.0 refers to the intelligent digitization and networking of industrial value creation. The German government’s High-Tech Strategy views Industry 4.0 as a key future project for securing Germany’s global competitiveness. Beyond the primarily examined technical aspects, this research project aims to identify the diverse opportunities and challenges involved in the transition to Industry 4.0, examining economic, environmental, and social aspects and their interactions with technological developments and solutions. The assessment of interdependencies between opportunities and risks across all three dimensions of sustainability is intended to be developed into a normative model of sustainable industrial value creation that can be identified in various typologies of value creation. In this way, specific integration strategies for Industry 4.0 can be derived for corporate practice.

Funding
