Brief description
Sustainability is also of great importance within the value chain. Sustainability management in this context, known as Sustainable Supply Chain Management (SSCM), examines sustainability challenges and opportunities throughout the entire manufacturing process. Thus, not only is the procurement of sustainable materials and raw materials (Sustainable Sourcing) one of our focuses, but also process redesign, which can lead, for example, to more energy-efficient and climate-friendly manufacturing processes.
The innovation process along the supply chain is of great importance to our research. We examine individual aspects that positively support the process, such as collaborations with NGOs or expertise as resources. We also shed light on negative drivers, such as barriers to innovation, a lack of resources, or excessive risks. In doing so, we ask ourselves the following questions, among others:
How do companies along various value chains develop entrepreneurial capabilities and resources to integrate sustainability?
How can sustainability be integrated into procurement?
How can collaborations and partnerships influence the degree of sustainable innovation in value chains?
Dr. Akhavan has already conducted research on sustainable sourcing under the umbrella term “sustainable supply chain management.”
In our current project on “Sustainability-Oriented Innovations Along the Supply Chain,” we are primarily examining the impact of partnerships on innovations in cultivation and distribution.
